The procedures in this page outlines the basic procedures, but doesn't not cover everything you need to know about how to paint. Painting any car, or car parts require a lot of experience and the mistakes can be very costly. Use drop cloth to cover all the area that might be exposed to air born paint particles and lay out all the parts that needs to be painted out in the open so all the area of the parts can be painted without repositioning the pieces. Here is a picture
of John covering up everything with drop cloth
For this paint job I am using Acrylic Enamal paint mixed with glossy hardner which eliminate a clear coat. When the paint is dried it will have a glossy clear coat finish. The acrylic enamal paint is mixed with the correct temperature reducer, each reducer works best according the ambiant termperature. The ratio is 2 parts paint 1 part reducer and the correct amount of the hardner is also used. (The mixing ratio I gave was just a reference the exact ratio amount maybe different from paint to paint, it is best to consult your paint supplier for precise mixing information) Once the herdner is mixed together with the paint the paint need to be used up withon 4 hours, it will become harden and useless after that. Here is a picture
of the paint mixes.
The method to paint the color coat is a little different than painting the primer. Thicker cost is required with the color coat, and the final coat needs to be even thicker, just to the point before the paint starts to run. Here are some picture of the parts while they were being painted. I sprayed a total of three coats of paint on the aero kit, in between each coat I gave it about 10 minutes of drying time. ![]()
